How Counselling Can Help You

We all have times in our lives when we may need support or an understanding environment in which we can talk through what is happening for us.

Person-centred counselling relates to your experience on an individual level, working with your own experiencing of the situation and at a pace comfortable for you.

Whether the difficulties you are experiencing relate to an event in the past, or are rooted in the present, counselling can help to alleviate the way in which these events affect you. Talking through your experiences in a supported, non-judgemental, environment helps to reduce the stress and anxiety caused by these events and experiences.

We are able to experience authentic, satisfying relationships in which our own self-worth and self-esteem flourishes.  We learn to accept ourselves and to appreciate the value in ourselves.  We live according to our own values and beliefs, allowing for a reduction in anxiety and self-doubt.  We live "our" lives, not according to the external expectations of others....we become self-accepting.  The greatest gift we could afford ourselves.

Along with an improved sense of self-worth we are able to build on our own personal resilience, allowing us to cope better when future challenges arise in our lives.

Talking through our issues and problems allows us to break free of their capture and to move forward towards a more autonomous, liberated way of being.

About Me

I too have experienced difficulties throughout my life in which I have reached out to counselling for support.  This inspired me to train to become a counsellor.

Throughout the pandemic I volunteered as a trainee counsellor, with MIND Low Cost Counselling Service in Norwich.  I also volunteered with the Norfolk County Council befriending service, making regular support calls to vulnerable members of our community.  This was a rewarding and challenging experience for which I felt privileged to be a part of.

I have since attained a First Class Honours Degree in Person-Centred Counselling through the University of Suffolk.

I am a registrant of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within their ethical framework for the counselling profession.  I am accredited through the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

I feel that sharing and talking about our experiences within a trusted, safe space offers us the opportunity to work through our feelings and learn to move forward with a greater sense of agency and hope.

If you feel I am able to help you in your situation, please feel free to contact me.
